A germ-free tunnel was installed at the entrance of KP Bosu road near district post office intersection in Jhenaidah on Wednesday.
Construction work of the tunnel funded by Jhenidah municipality, was supervised by the Bangladesh Army. It was constructed aiming at preventing covid 19 in the area.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jhenaidah Saroj Kumar Nath, superintendent of police (SP) Hasanuzzaman, Lieutenant Colonel Nasir Uddin of Jashore 55 artillery division, civil surgeon Dr. Salina Begum, Mayor of Jhenaidah municipality Awami League’s district unit general secretary Saidul Karim Minrtu and Jhenaidah press club president M Raihan among others present during the installation event.
The organisers said the buyers and sellers of 250 garments shops will enjoy the tunnel and keep them germ-free from May 10. The buyers will have to enter the tunnel through one-way passage with a safe and social distance for better health-friendly environment during the covid 19 affected hours in the country.
Mention may be made that 119 fieled workshop company of the Army constructed the germ-free tunnel for the interest of the people in Jhenaidah.
