General Aziz to go on LPR on June 24

Chief of Bangladesh Army General Aziz Ahmed will go on one year of Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR) on June 24 after completing his three-year term as Army Chief.

The Defence Ministry made the announcement on Thursday issuing a gazette notification in this regard.  

The gazette notification has been signed by Deputy Secretary of the Defence Ministry Waheda Sultana.

As the tenure of the General Aziz will end on June 24, he will retire from Bangladesh Army on that day.

As per law, he will get all types of service benefits, the official order reads.

On June 18 in 2018, the government had appointed the then Quarter Master General of Bangladesh Army Lt Gen Aziz Ahmed as the new Army chief.

Major General Aziz Ahmed previously performed as the Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and the GOC of 33 Infantry Division stationed at Cumilla Cantonment.
