We remain deeply concerned by the deadly criminal activities of ‘BNP-Jamaat-Shibir’ across the country. We also apprehend the BNP-Jamaat and like-minded parties are deliberately spreading rumours as part of the plot to intensify conflicts to stall the country’s prosperity and destroy the economy.

People have also expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation in the country as the BNP-Jamaat nexus became more desperate to cripple the economy and hold back the nation’s march towards prosperity. The people do not want to see any incident which might lead to unwanted situation creating instability in the country and affecting the economy badly.

The countrywide recent havoc and atrocities carried out by BNP-Jamaat-Shibir were targeted to destroy the country’s economy. The only goal of the vested quarter is to harm the country’s independence, economy, and education and halt the continuation of democracy that Bangladesh has been enjoying for the past 15 years and six months.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday announced the formation of a national unity movement bringing together Jamaat-e-Islami and religion-based political parties to oust Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led government.

The statement of Fakhrul has exposed his real face, which was disguised in a camouflage of progressiveness. This sot of  statement is also an exposure of an ill motive to provoke terrorist activities of ultra communal evil forces again.

This is not only unconstitutional but also seditious. BNP is traditionally an anti-democratic and conspiratorial political party. We strongly condemned and protested Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s unconstitutional and provocative speech. They (BNP leaders) are trying to seize power through unconstitutional methods.

Neither Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir nor has BNP the authority to determine the term or deadline of a democratically elected government. The people have given Sheikh Hasina’s government the mandate of running the country for a specified period according to the Constitution.

A conducive and business-friendly environment prevailed in the country due to liberal trade policy and various supports provided by the government in line to build the ‘Golden Bengal’- dreamt by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangladesh has now emerged as an attractive destination for foreign entrepreneurs, investors and importers.

Moreover, the implementation of several important mega projects including the Padma Bridge and the increase in power generation gave momentum to the economy, which was playing a supporting role in attracting foreign investment and increasing export earnings. People from various professions were working at their respective workplaces while academic activities at all educational institutions were going on in full swing across the country.

As all factories, industries, mills, offices, hotels, motels, restaurants, tourist spots, shopping malls and all other business activities are running now in full, the country witnessed strong economic growth. Apart from the impact of COVID-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war and the Palestine-Israel conflict the government faced various natural disasters like flash flood and cyclonic storm which affected many districts of the country in the last four years.
