Freedom fighters and Families of martyred freedom fighters have been given a grand reception in Gazipur district. The reception was organized by Gazipur City Corporation at Bangataj Auditorium in Gazipur city on Tuesday afternoon.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel was the chief guest at the function presided over by Gazipur City Corporation Acting Mayor Asadur Rahman.
Women MP Shamsunnahar, Gazipur Deputy Commissioner SM Tariqul Islam, Police Commissioner Khandaker Lutful Kabir, Metropolitan Awami League President Azmat Ullah Khan, Freedom Fighter Abdus Sattar Mia, Metropolitan Awami League Co-President Freedom Fighter Kazi Alim Uddin Buddin and others spoke as special guests.Speaking as the chief guest, State Minister Zahid Ahsan Russel said that freedom fighters are the warriors who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Hearing Bangabandhu's unwritten speech in March, the freedom fighters jumped into the war of liberation.
He further said that this government is respecting the freedom fighters. The government is constructing Birnibas for the indigent freedom fighters along with providing allowances.
City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Aminul Islam, Metropolitan Awami League leader Kazi Elias, freedom fighter Iman Ali, Councilor Shahjahan Saju and others spoke on the occasion. The special guest of the function, female MP Shamsunnahar, said Bangabandhu used to think of the working people of this country. Gazipur City Corporation Acting Mayor Asadur Rahman Kiron, who presided over the function, said the road would be named after freedom fighters in the metropolitan area.
This nation is grateful for the role played by the freedom fighters in the defense of the country.
