The number of people killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since the start of the war has now exceeded 54,000, according to the Health Ministry in the besieged territory.
In a statement today (27 May), the ministry said at least 79 were killed and 163 injuries were recorded in hospitals in the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, reports Al Jazeera.
The figures bring the number of people killed since the start of the war to 54,056, with 123,129 injured.
The update does not include hospitals in the North Governorate due to the difficulty of accessing them, it added.
There are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the streets, and ambulance and civil defence crews are unable to reach them, it also said.
