While piling on an empty plot of a building under construction inside Adamji EPZ in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, a 20 e radius pipe of Titas gas burst and caused a terrible fire. After receiving the news of the fire, the personnel of 9 units of Narayanganj and Dhaka Fire Service were able to bring the fire under control after 6 and a half hours. The fire broke out at 10 am on Friday. Gas supply to Narayanganj city and various areas of Siddhirganj was cut off after the fire. The fire caused panic in EPZ area and Siddhirganj 210 MW thermal power plant.
According to the fire service and Adamji EPZ authorities, the Titas gas pipe burst while piling under the empty plot of a unit called Hamza Fashion of Palmal Group inside the EPZ at 7.30 am on Friday. At one stage, the gas pipe caught fire around 10 am. Upon receiving the news, personnel of 9 units of different fire services including Adamji, Mandalpara, Hajiganj and Dhaka came to the spot and tried to control the fire. Fire service personnel of 9 units of the fire service divided and tried their best to control the fire from inside Adamji EPZ and from inside Siddhirganj 210 MW thermal power plant.
Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy assistant director of the Narayanganj office of the fire service and civil defense, said the fire started around 10am on Friday. After receiving the news of the fire, Adamji EPZ, Hajiganj, Mandalpara and 9 units of different fire services including Dhaka came to the spot and started working to bring the fire under control. The fire came under control around 4:30 pm. At 5:30 pm, he said, now the dumping work is going on. He said the gas pipe did not catch fire immediately after it burst. The fire started around 10 o'clock. However, it seems that the fire started from the spark. According to eyewitnesses, the flames and black smoke of the fire rose 30-40 feet. Panic spread. At noon, Siddhirganj 210 MW thermal power plant was seen burning near the fire.
Adamji EPZ Executive Director Ahsan Kabir said, "We have given 8 plots to a unit of Palmal Group called Hazma Fashion." On Friday, while going to do the piling work of the empty plot, there was a gas line pipe 20 feet below the ground. That gas line caught fire. At 8 o'clock in the morning, the gas line burst and gas started coming out. However, the fire broke out at 11 pm. The fire in the open field did not cause any damage. There was no factory nearby. There was no damage due to this.
Sakir Ahmed, managing engineer at the Narayanganj office of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company, said the gas pipe burst while Adamji was piling inside the EPZ. The fire came under control at 4.30 pm. Now I have started the repair work. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. The gas pipe of 20 E radius bursts. Gas supply to various places in Narayanganj and Siddhirganj has been cut off due to fire. Gas supply will be started after the repair work.
