Naturul gas has been sipping out of a well pipe in Bera upazila of pabna district. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon. While digging a tube well, workers found that gas were sipping out from the pipe. People in the area are currently swarming at the site to observe this phenomenon.
Locals in the area said that a team of workers on Wednesday afternoon started digging beside the hose of Mintu Sheikh in Chakla area of the upazila.
After digging through 30 feet under the ground, the drill got stuck into something solid like a rock formation. At that time, they felt gas was sipping from the hole.
Finding that, they sealed the hole and started digging behind the house. After digging 35 feet under the ground, same incident took place and gas started to sip out in high volume. Receiving the information, Bera Fire Service immediately rushed to the place and put red flags around
the area.
Owner of the land Mintu Sheikh said that he recently bought the land and made house there. When he ordered a team of workers to dug a hole for installing tube well, they found gas beneath the land. After hearing that, he immediately called fire service to contain the situation.
Bera UNO Md Sabur Ali said that by the assistance of fire brigade members, this area has been sealed off from locals.
Hazard signs have been installed around the area. Authorities are being informed regarding the issues, he added.
