A garment worker was killed as a bus hit him in Bagher Bazar area of Gazipur Sadar upazila in the district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, 35, son of Barek Miah of Pabriachala village of Sreepur Upazila of Gazipur district. Naozor Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Md Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the matter to BSS saying that the accident took place in the area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway around 7 am.
He said Jahangir was walking along the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway near Bagher Bazar area where a speedy bus of Banashree Paribahan hit him leaving the victim dead on the spot.
After receiving the information, the police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Shaheed Taj Uddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for post-mortem, he added.
Police seized the bus, he said, adding that however, the driver fled the spot. Legal action will be taken in this regard.
