A new association dedicated to the welfare of the dumb, deaf, and speech-impaired has been launched in Gangni, Meherpur. The inauguration and office opening ceremony took place on Saturday afternoon at the conference hall of the Gangni Upazila Muktijoddha Complex.
The event was chaired by Gangni Bazar Committee President Salauddin Shawon. The chief guest was heroic freedom fighter Shamsul Alam (Sona), Convener of the District Freedom Fighters’ Command. Other special guests included freedom fighter Mozzamel Haque and Robiul Islam, President of Gangni Bazar Market Owners’ Association.
People with hearing and speech disabilities and their families from various villages attended the event. An 11-member executive committee was also formed, with Salauddin Shawon as President and Fazle Rabbi Shimu as General Secretary. The committee includes other key roles such as vice-presidents, treasurer, sports secretary, and members.
