Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4) detained three people including the gang leader of the terrible terrorist group of Savar, by conducting a drive at Aminbazar area in Savar early on Friday. RAB also recovered a foreign made firearm, a magazine, two rounds of bullets, 190 gram of heroin, and 500 pieces of yaba tablets, from their possession during the drive.
The detainees were identified as Salahuddin, alias MP Salahuddin, the gang leader of Gangchil group, and his associates Ashraf and Akidul.
Sazedul Islam, SR assistant police superintendent of RAB-4 confirmed the matter.He said, ‘We conducted a drive at Salhpur area of Aminbazar in Savar, based on secret information and detained them, on early Friday. We also recovered foreign made firearm and narcotics from their possession during the drive.’
Sazedul Islam said, actually, the terrorist gang ‘Gangchil’, was involved in the murder of a sub-inspector of Savar model police station in 2002, two RAB members in 2007 and Arms looting from Diyabari police outpost.
Moreover, the gang’s activities were extortion, kidnapping, murder, robbery and drug trafficking, establishing supremacy on both side of the Buriganga and Turag River. They are perpetrating their criminal activities at Gabtoli,Vakurta, Kaundia, Beribadh, Keraniganj and Mohammadpur areas.
He also said, Gangchil emerged by carrying out criminal activities at Aminbazar area of Savar from 2000, while its gang leader was Anowar Hossain alias Anar. But, later, Salahuddin became the gang leader after Anowar’s death around in 2017.
“Taking further legal actions against the detainees are underway” he added.
