Gaibandha Zila Parishad has distributed blankets among 1000 char dwellers.
Zila Parishad Chairman and Bangladesh Awami League (AL) district unit President Abu Bakar Siddique handed over the blankets at a function in Gaibandha Poura Park here on Saturday afternoon.Sadar Upazila Chairman Shah Sarwar Kabir, General Secretary (GS) of Sadar upazila AL Mridul Mostafi Jhantu, President of Poura AL Omar Faruk Rubel, GS Kamal Hossain and different political leaders were present.
After receiving blankets, the char dwellers expressed their gratefulness to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for always standing beside them in any disaster.As PM's gift to the cold hit distressed people of 82 unions of the district, blanket distribution continues through respective local government bodies, office sources said.
