Awami League lawmaker Dr Yunus Ali Sarker (Gaibandha-3) passed away at a city hospital on Friday at the age of 66, reports BSS. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at his death. Dr Sarker, who was elected an MP from Gaibandha-3 constituency, passed away at a hospital in the capital on Friday morning at the age of 66, said a press release of Bangladesh Awami League.
He left behind wife, a son and a host of relatives, followers and well-wishers to mourn his death. “Dr Yunus Ali had long been suffering from cancer,” senior vice-president of Sadullapur Upazila unit of AL Khandaker Zillur Rahman said, adding Yunus Ali was a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Health and Family Welfare Ministry.
In a condolence message, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her profound shock and sorrow at the death of Dr Yunus Ali. The premier also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed her sympathy to the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, in a separate message, condoled the death of the Gaibandha MP. He also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
