Gachbari Bazar sub-branch of National Bank Limited (NBL), the first private sector bank operated under the management of Sikder Group, officially opened on Sunday (November 26, 2023).
Sylhet regional head and VP Ahmed Zulkarnain Masum as the chief guest inaugurated the sub-branch at Gachbari Bazar under Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet.
Chairman of No.7 Dakshin Banigram Union Parishad Md Lukman Uddin, chairman No.8 Jhingabari Union Parishad Abu Bakar, Manager of Kanaighat branch of the National Bank, in-charge of the sub-branch Delwar Hossain Selim, local dignitaries and businesspersons, including businessman Oliur Rahman, former UP member Ala Uddin and Noor Ahmed of Narainpur village, were present during the inaugural ceremony.
On that day, two other sub-branches of the National Bank Limited were inaugurated at two other different locations in the country-- Cumilla and Lalmonirhat.
The guests and local people at the inaugural ceremony expressed their hope that the local residents will now be able to complete their banking activities through the National Bank near them.
Noor Ahmed, a Saudi expatriate and a local businessman, told Daily Bangladesh Post that now does not have to travel 18 kilometres to get banking services from NBL as the bank has opened a sub-branch in Gachbari Bazar. “We are very happy that the NBL’s sub-branch was opened in our area,” he added.
Delwar Hossain Selim said that the National Bank Limited has opened a sub-branch in a rural area to provide banking services to the rural people. The Gachbari Bazar sub-branch will bring many unbanked and underprivileged people under the banking network, he added.
It can be noted that the total number of National Bank’s sub-branches has reached 48 as a result of the inauguration of these three new sub-branches.
