The society has moved ahead with the era. Civilization has gone ahead with it. The country of red and green has also gone ahead. Yet in some remote parts of the country there is still shadow of superstition grasping the lives of people. Those who are still immersed in superstition have kept the villagers engulfed in darkness. A web series called ‘Jal Vejal’ has been created in collaboration with USAID to eliminate those social prejudices.
It officially unveiled Friday on the internet. The web series is being shown on the G-Series YouTube channel, the country's first-ever audio-video production company. The web series was released through a program at Bailey Road in the capital. Present at the event were Bangladeshi officials of USAID, including Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan Khaled, G-Series host, music star Rashed Uddin Ahmed Tapu, web series creator Saju Ahsan and its writer Mejbah Uddin Sumon.
Speaking on the occasion, Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan Khaled said, “Through this web series, we want to give a conscious message to the society. Thanks also to USAID, for doing such a thing with G-Series.”
Saju Ahsan said, “This web series is about a superstition in our village areas where the importance of mother and motherhood is highlighted. In our society, there are still ineffective midwives and obese people trying to solve complex problems regarding child bearing. That is harmful for us. This is our attempt to get out of all those superstitions. Hopefully this web series will make some people in the society aware.”
Playwright Mejbah Uddin Suman said, “This web series was written to eliminate a superstition in rural society. Thanks to USAID, they have been supporting us in such a work. If our work also makes one human aware, then that is our success.”
