Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive at Jamalpur Sadar upazila today arrested a man, who was sentenced to the death, for killing his wife in 2011.
The condemned person was identified as Md Forkan Ali, 35, son of Md Moydan Ali, of village Kellakandi under Sreebardi Upazila in Sherpur district. Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force arrested him from the Nandina area in Jamalpur sadar upazila. According to Jamalpur RAB-14, Forkan Ali went into hiding after killing his wife Johura Begum, daughter of Jabbar Ali, of village Gheramar under the same upazila in the district, on July 1, 2011.
Later, District and Sessions Judge, Sherpur, convicted Furkan Ali and sentenced him to death penalty on May 10, 2022 for the murder.
