Fugitive arrested after six years in Begumganj

RAB has arrested Sabuj Prakash Katka Sabuj (28), on a charge of beating a teenager named Nipu to death in a cricket match at Gopalpur Union in Noakhali's Begumganj upazila. He had been on the run for six years to avoid arrest.

He was sent to jail by a judicial court on Tuesday. Earlier, this information was given in a press release on Monday. The arrested Sabuj is the son of Siraj Miah of Kashimpur village in Gopalpur union of Begumganj upazila.

According to the RAB, on April 1, 2016, there was a clash between the two sides over the cricket match at Gopalpur Khurshida Girls High School.

The arrested Sabuj along with his teammates beat Nipu to death with a cricket bat and stamp. The victim’s family filed a murder case in Begumganj Model Police Station on the same night accusing Sabuj of the incident.

But Sabuj fled after the incident. RAB-11, CPC-3 Noakhali Camp Company Commander Additional Superintendent of Police Khandaker Shamim Hossain confirmed the matter and said that the accused Sabuj has been sent to jail through Begumganj Model Police Station.
