FSCD organises training programme on risk of septic tank and precautions

Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) on Tuesday organised a training programme on the risk of septic tank precautions.

Shanta Holdings organised the training session for construction workers of one of its 16-storey under-construction buildings located in the capital's Gulshan-2. A total of 75 construction workers participated in the programme.


FSCD Deputy Director Md. Saleh Uddin of Dhaka Division was present as the chief guest in the programme where Assistant Director Kazi Nazmuzzaman, Chief Project Management Officer of the under construction building Major (retd) Hafiz Al Asad and senior other officials were also present.

At the function, FSCD Assistant Director Kazi Nazmuzzaman delivered the welcome speech.

After a theoretical discussion, a demonstration was presented on how to ventilate a septic tank using a smoke ejector and air ventilator or how to remove contaminated air or gas from a septic tank.


In addition, techniques for extinguishing of fire using a fire extinguisher and extinguishing a gas cylinder fire were also demonstrated.

It is worth noting that on August 31, three workers were killed while cleaning a septic tank in Munshiganj. In addition, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defense, 228 people have died in septic tank and sewage line accidents in the last 5 years.
