A great number of public servants, doctors and law enforcement personnel have played a significant role during the coronavirus period. They have made great sacrifices for the people of the country.

This pandemic-stricken year has seen a number of changes in the country. The first and foremost of which is uniting the people all over the world to fight for a common cause  -- creating the vaccine for Covid-19.

According to a report published in this daily, the country has continued to prosper because of the dedication and service of frontline workers in this crisis. It was at times like these when there was a great impact on the domestic and international trade, Bangladesh kept on rising through confronting challenges head-on.

The report also elaborates that Bangladesh had a steady growth in food production, despite there being international monitoring predictions saying that the country will face problems regarding food during the coronavirus crisis. The country also continues to be a leader in foreign exchange earnings because throughout this challenging year, everything was continuing in a safe manner which took the country ahead.

What is encouraging to know is that there were more than a dozen ministers who had been infected with coronavirus during this year, but despite this, no decision making had been stopped. The amendment of the violence against women and children act with a presidential ordinance was a big step that gave provisions for death in case of rape.

Above all, it can be said that with the support and help of the frontliners, death and crisis has been smoothed over by varying degrees for the benefit of the people. The government has done a superb job in steering us through these murky waters. Let us hope for a better year in the future.
