Deaths and infections of the frontline fighters along with the commoners due to the deadly coronavirus infection are rising every day.
According to the Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR), at least 4,253 current and retired members of armed forces and their family members have so far been infected with the Covid-19.
ISPR on Saturday said in a press release that some 713 people in the armed forces found Covid-19 positive in the last week only.
Some eight armed forces men have died of Covid-19 infection. However, all of them were retired who died during the time, said ISPR.
According to the sources at the Police Headquarters, some 8,496 policemen so far are infected with the coronavirus across the country until Friday.
“Among the total infections, 2,050 policemen were attached to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) alone.
Among them, 4,811 policemen have made recovery.
Meanwhile, 28 cops and one civilian member of the law enforcement agency died of Covid-19 till date.
Assistant Inspector General (Media and Public Relations) Mir Sohel Rana said, “As a single profession, Bangladesh police is the most affected by COVID-19. At the same time, the recovery rate of police members is also much higher than others.”
About 46 percent of the police personnel have recovered. After getting recoveries, they have already joined the service to serve the nation during these crisis moment, he added .
According to the Bangladesh Medical Association, till Saturday, 44 doctors, four nurses and one medical service provider died of Covid-19.
According to the Society for Nurses Safety and Rights, at least 1,302 nurses were infected with the deadly virus while four of them died and 500 already recovered.
On Saturday morning two doctors, including a retired physician, died of COVID-19.
