The Department of Communication and Multimedia Journalism at Islamic University held a freshers' reception and cultural event to welcome new students of the 2024–2025 academic year.
The event took place on Tuesday in Room 439 of the Mir Mosharraf Hossain Academic Building and began at 10:45 am.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Naquib Mohammad Nasrullah, attended as the chief guest. Special guests included the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr M. Ayoob Ali, and the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Dr Begum Roksana Mili. Professor Dr A. K. M. Matinur Rahman from the Department of Public Administration also spoke. The event was presided over by the department’s chairman, Professor Dr Md Rashiduzzaman.
In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the significance of the department in producing versatile professionals.
He stated that journalists must be well-versed in a range of subjects and play a crucial role in representing society through words and actions. He encouraged the freshers to study sincerely and prepare to become honest and courageous journalists with a strong sense of social responsibility.
