Ukhia Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) of Cox's Bazar Imran Hossain Sajib has set up a freelancing, block batik, and sewing training center in the upazila administration premises to help the youth of Ukhia escape the curse of unemployment.
With the support of the Ukhia Upazila Administration, hundreds of young people are now able to earn a living and contribute to their families and communities. One of the beneficiaries of this initiative is Sakibul Hasan, a member of a lower middleclass family whose one leg is crippled since birth. Sakib's family's financial condition and physical disability made it difficult for him to study, but he managed to pass the HSC exam. He dreamt of earning bread by doing freelancing, but he couldn't afford a laptop due to financial constraints. However, his luck turned by getting an opportunity to admit in the Freelancing course and he stood first. The UNO of Ukhia was impressed by Sakib's enthusiasm and, after hearing about his poverty, presented him with a Tab, which was handed over by Cox’s Bazar District Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Shahin Imran. At that time, the DC promised him a Laptop if he could do better. Inspired, Sakib earned 400 Dollars in three months. The DC of Cox’s Bazar kept his promise and gifted Sakibul with an HP Laptop.
Ukhia Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Imran Hossain Sajib said that the current era is the era of information technology.
