He made this announcement in the 22nd general meeting of the elected council of Chattogram City Corporation at KB Abduch Chattar Auditorium of Old City Bhavan in Andarkilla on Monday morning.

The port city of Chattogram has already been colourfully decorated on the occasion of the Prime Minister's arrival in Chattogram and the grand gathering.  All preparations have been completed including provision of drinking water, installation of mobile toilets and medical teams for the convenience of those coming to the public meeting.  Meanwhile, 100 CCTV cameras will be installed for the security of the venue.  It has been decided to hold a coordination meeting in the next two days to discuss the progress of the various government service organizations of the city.

Out of the authorized manpower structure of Chattogram City Corporation, some officers and employees were appointed on temporary basis from time to time due to urgent need.  Many of them have served efficiently for 20-25 years as temps.  Many are temporarily retiring after finishing their jobs.  But they have to live an inhumane life as they are deprived of financial benefits at the end of their service.  Moreover, the temporary employees are losing their motivation due to not getting the facilities provided by the government including promotion due to the non-permanency of the job despite doing the same work as the permanent employees.  If this situation continues, the CCC will suffer in order to provide citizen services.  The Prime Minister has directed the temporary employees to be made permanent through the legal process in the ECNEC meeting on April 19.  Chattogram City Corporation Workers Employees League (CBA) has been campaigning for a long time in this regard.  Taking the matters into consideration, a unanimous decision was taken to implement due process for parametrization of the employees.

In the meeting, the Mayor directed to complete the tender process of at least Tk 1000 crore of the Tk 2500 crore work provided by the government by next December and to start the work of 10 feet over-bridge.  He also directed to repair and renovate all small and big roads in every ward.

Chattogram Mayor directed the Chief Engineer to properly monitor whether WASA is doing any road carting without permission.  Monthly work also directed to submit progress reports of various projects already undertaken by CCC.

CCC Mayor said, to collect information through the tax collectors to collect appropriate fees from those who installed slabs without permission, to collect the list of business establishments without trade license and bring the establishments under trade license, properties under land property wing.  Emphasizes on developing them through developers or taking up income-generating projects on their own initiative.

He also directed the Chief Revenue Officer to issue barcoded licenses to city rickshaws, vans.

The mayor expressed his anger at the power department staff and warned that the complaints about uninterrupted lighting in the city should not be repeated. Effective medicine has been collected to eradicate the city's mosquitoes.   He directed the councillors of each ward of the city to monitor the proper implementation of the week-long anti-mosquito program.  CCC said to clean all canals, drains and drains through its own scavengers during the dry season to alleviate waterlogging.

He said, urged the local police stations to play a role in preventing the re-occupation of the evicted places.  CCC and CMP jointly called for the implementation of pay-parking system under the flyover and at appropriate places to ease the traffic congestion in the city.  He also emphasized on maintaining communication with the ministry for collecting CCC specific charges on containers and trucks from Chittagong Port Authority and expediting the process of collecting charges from Bill of Entry of Customs.  The proceedings of the 22nd General Meeting were read and approved in the meeting.

CCC Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Shahidul Alam, Panel Mayor Md Gias Uddin, Afroza Kalam, Councilors and Reserved Councillors, Heads of Departments and representatives of various service organizations spoke under the direction of CCC Secretary Khaled Mahmud.
