A free fertilizer and jute seed distribution programme has been inaugurated among jute farmers in Kurigram.
Kurigram Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rashedul Hasan was the chief guest at the inaugural function held at the office of Kurigram Sadar Upazila Jute Development Officer on Monday.
Kurigram Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Zakir Hossain, Sadar Upazila Rural Development Officer Md Abdul Quader, Accounts Officer of Dhaka Jute Department Md Solaiman, District Jute Development Officer Md Abdul Awal Sarkar and Deputy Assistant Jute Development Officer Md Khadija Khatun were also present on the occasion.
Under the advanced technology based jute and jute seed production and expansion project being implemented by the Jute Department of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, a total of 3,000 jute farmers in six unions and one municipality of Kurigram Sadar Upazila the target has been set to distribute 1 kg of jute seeds, 6 kg urea fertilizer, 3kg TSP and 3kg MOP fertilizers per person.
