Saplings of Nabi (BR-22) variety of Ropa Aman paddy were distributed for free among the small and marginal flood affected farmers in Naogaon on Thursday morning.
Naogaon Deputy Commissioner Harun Ar Rashid was present as the chief guest at the sapling distribution ceremony held at Sadar Upazila Parishad premises.
44 farmers received the paddy saplings at the time as part of compensation for farmers affected by the flood. After the distribution of saplings a discussion meeting was held in the Upazila Parishad hall room under the chairmanship of Naogaon Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mirza Imam Uddin.
Deputy Commissioner Harun Ar Rashid, who was present as the chief guest at the discussion meeting, spoke about the government assistance to the affected farmers and the success of the agro-friendly government in the agricultural sector.
Deputy Director of District Agriculture Extension Department Shamsul Wadud, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Mofidul Islam, affected farmers, administration officials and journalists were present at the time.
