Chief of inter-district fraudster gang, Ripon Khan, was detained by police with 1,506 pieces of fake gold coins in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga district.
The detainee was identified as Ripon Khan, 41, son of Moslem Khan, resident of West Lakhanda village under Maksudpur upazila in Gopalganj district.
Police from Jibannagar Police Station detained him.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jibannagar Police Station S M Jabid Hassan confirmed the matter to the journalists through a press release in his office room on Friday.
The OC said that acting on a tip off, Sub-Inspector Firoz Hossain, along with accompanied forces, conducted a drive at an office room of Darul Uloom Subhania Qawmi Madrasa at Hariharnagar village in Jibannagar Upazila. They detained the chief of inter-district fraudster gang Ripon Khan along with fake gold coins used in fraudulent activities. Later, 1,506 pieces of fake gold coin were recovered from his possession.
Later, Ripon Khan revealed information about swindling money through deception and the names of five of his companions to the police. A case was filed against five people, including Ripon Khan, with Jibannagar Police Station in this connection. Police personnel are continuing their drive to detain the other fraudsters.
