Fratricide in Manikganj over boundary dispute

Manikganj: A younger brother was killed by his elder brother and his associates in a clash over the boundary of the house at Madhur Char village in Singair upazila of Manikganj district on Sunday.

The deceased Kohel Uddin is the son of deceased Intaj Uddin of Madhur Char village of Jamitta Union of Upazila.

Police and locals said, the family of the deceased Kohel Uddin and his elder brother Md Islam Munsi had a quarrel over a one-foot space in the boundary of the house on Sunday (March 10) noon.  

At one stage of the brawl between their two families, Islam Munsi and his associates attacked Kohel Uddin's family. Kohel Uddin and his son Shahinur were seriously injured in this incident.

Locals rescued them and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Kohel Uddin dead. Besides, the son of the deceased is under treatment at Enam Medical College in Dhaka Savar in critical condition.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Singair police station Ziarul Islam Confirming the murder said land dispute between Kohel Uddin and his elder brother Md Islam Munsi have been prevailing for long time. The motive of the killing was to grab Kohel Uddin's property, he suspected. 

Earlier, the locals sat at the village to solve the matter. But theyfailed to meet up the feud over boundary dispute, the locals said. 

A murder case has been filed with Singair police station.

Police failed to arrest the killers as they fled the scene after killing. They are trying to track down Islam Munsi and the others, the OC added.
