Police arrested four robbers along with three firearms, six rounds of bullets and four sharp weapons from Malanchi area in Jashore-Benapole highway on Thursday night.
The arrestees were identifies as Sabbir Hossain, 32 son of Tayab Ali of Raypara in Jashore town, Rakibul Islam, 40 son of Nazrul Islam of Barandi Mollapara, Sohel Rana, 35 son of Sattar Gazi of Lebutala Dakshinpara in Sadar upazila and Nasiruddin son Helal uddin of the same area.
Jashore Superintendent of Police Ashraf Hossain said that a group of robbers was preparing to rob of Jashore -Benapole highway in front of the BBI brick kiln at Malanchi, police on the basis of secret information carried out the operation at 11:30 pm under the leadership of SI Masudur Rahman of Chanchra police outpost.
The robbers tried to flee after sensing the presence of the police but police chased them and managed to arrest 4 robbers.At that time, a robber named Sabbir was slightly injured when he fell on the road while fleeing but more of their associates fled.
Later police searched arrested robbers and recovered one-shooter gun, one shutter gun, a pipe gun, six rounds of bullets and four large sharp weapons.
‘A case has been registered with Jashore kotwali police station against the arrestees,’ the police superintendent said.
