Published : 22 Aug 2021 09:28 PM

Leaders of the Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance (BNHGA) have made a four-point demand asking the government not to amend Hindu law including reform, change, development, and refinement. They have asked the government to make a clear announcement in this regard by August 30. Otherwise, there will be a nationwide movement, they warned.

The demands were made at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters' Unity on Sunday.

Their four-point demand include bringing no change or amendment in any law of the Hindu community, taking legal action against the troublemakers who conduct anti-Hindu families, anti-social and anti-religious activities, unconditional apology from everyone concerned including ShaheenAnam, and a clear statement from the government by August 30.

President of Hindu SamajSanskarSamiti Prof HirendranathBiswas, said the Hindu community will not accept the conspiracy of MahfuzAnam, editor of the Daily Star, and his wife ShaheenAnam, director of ManusherJonno Foundation to reform the Hindu religion law.

He said that several international NGOs are also involved in this conspiracy. They themselves do not understand why they want to reform this law. Those who need Hindu law reform, have not made any demands in this regard.

He further said that there is no need to reform or change the traditional law.

“Those who want to reform this law are insulting Hindu religion.”

PratibhaBagchi, Women's Affairs Secretary of the Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance said,“Several NGOs, including ManusherJonno Foundation, are sowing the seeds of unrest in the homes of a well-integrated Hindu community that has existed for thousands of years. The group is planning to make Bangladesh Hindu-free by destroying this 10,000-year-old Hindu family system.”

President of Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance BidhanBihariGoswami, Secretary General Govinda Chandra Pramanik, Joint Convener of Hindu Law Amendment Prevention Committee Advocate JK Pal and Member Secretary of Hindu Law Amendment Prevention Committee Advocate Jaya Bhattacharya were present during this time, amonothers.
