Four killed in road crashes in the country

A lorry crushed two women at Dhopaghat in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh district on Saturday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Majeda Khatun, 55, hailed from Pukhuria village and Bakula Begum, 45, an inhabitant at Charkamaria Vatipara in the upazila, reports BSS.

Police said the accident occurred in front of Dhopaghat Govt Primary School while the women 

were downing from an auto rickshaw. Majeda Khatun died on the spot while Bakula Begum succumbed to her injuries on the way to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex.

Officer-in-Charge of Gafargaon Thana Faruk Ahmed said they seized the lorry.

Meanwhile, two siblings were killed and two others injured as a private car hit a roadside tree in Debipur area on Dhaka-Chatto­gram Highway on Saturday noon.

  The deceased were identified as Tushar, 40, and his brother Biplob, 32. They were the residents of Ichakhali area under Mirsharia Upazila of the district.

  Eye witnesses said the accident occurred at around 12:30 pm as the driver of the private car lost control over the steering. 

Tushar and Biplob died on the spot, said doctor Siful Islam of Feni General Hospital. 

The injured were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment.
