Four injured in Ctg hill collapse

Three women and a child sustained injuries in hill collapse at Khulshi and Baizid areas in the port city on Saturday.

Two of the injured have been identified as Rehena Begum, 35, and Nusrat, 3.

Emdad Hossain, SI of Khulshi police station, said some portion of the hill fell on Rehena’s house in the morning, leaving her and child injured. Later, they were rescued and sent to hospital where they are being treated under army.

Locals informed that the incident occurred when some portion of the hill collapsed on a tin-shed house.

A hill at Janu Baper Ghona under Baizid police station collapsed at 9:30 this morning. An army team and two units of fire service began rescue operation with the help of the locals.

Injured in the incident Shahanur Akhter, 40, and her daughter Morzina Begum,18, were rescued and sent to Chattagram Medical College Hospital. Deputy Commissioner’s Staff Officer Rajib Hossain informed that they remained trapped in their house after the hill collapse.

Meanwhile, Chattagram has been experiencing incessant rain for the last one week. Local administration using loud speaker asked the residents to have patience. people staying in the risky foothills of the city and at various places in the district for the last fifteen days to move to safer places.

In the meantime, the people from most of the areas were shifted to shelter centres. The district administration said that a drive is being carried out against the residents of some areas who do not want to leave their homes.

Chattagram district administration informed that at least two thousand people were shifted to safer places in last one week.
