Four passengers of a battery-powered van were killed when a bus ran over it in Madhupur of Tangail district.
Among them, three were from the same family including women and children. The accident
took place in Gangair area of Tangail-Jamalpur road on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Mainuddin (50), son of Siraj Uddin, his wife Tahera Begum (30), son Siam (7) and Darad Ali’s son Farhad (45) of Paiska village under Dhanbari upazila in Tangail.
Md Murad Hossain, Police Inspector (Investigation) of Madhupur said that an auto-van bound for Madhupur collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound Binimoi bus that was leaving Madhupur. Mainuddin, his wife Tahera Begum and son of Darad Ali died on the spot. Mainuddin’s son Siam was taken to Madhupur Hospital where he died. The body was recovered and taken to the police station. Police seized the truck, but the driver fled away.
