Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 in two separate drives arrested four persons with 213 grams of heroin and 99 bottles of phensedyl from different areas in Rangpur and Lalmonirhat districts on Thursday afternoon. "On a tip off, an operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialized Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 conducted a raid at Rangpur Rail Station in the city and arrested a man with 213 grams of contraband heroin," said a press release issued today. The detainee was identified as Md. Shafiqul Islam, 32, of village Kalma in Tanore upazila of Rajshahi district. Another release said an operational team of RAB-13 in a separate raid arrested three persons with 99 bottles of phensedyl, a pick-up van and three mobile phone sets from the Lalmonirhat-Teesta highway in Sadar upazila.

The arrested persons were identified as Md. Shaju Mandal, 22, Md. Shakibul Islam, 22, and Md. Zeem Hossain, 18, of different areas in Dinajpur district.

During preliminary interrogations, the detainees admitted their involvement in drug trading in connivance with their other cohorts for a long time.

"After filing two separate cases against the arrested persons in these connections, the elite force handed them over to Lalmonirhat Railway police station and Lalmonirhat Sadar police station respectively," the releases added.

Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 Flight Lieutenant Mahmud Bashir Ahmed said the elite force continues inquiry against other absconding associates of the arrested persons in both raids to bring them under the law of the land.
