Four held for gangraping housewife

A housewife was gang raped by four people at Purondopur village in Jhikargachcha upazila of Jashore district on Friday night.

Police arrested four alleged rapists from different areas of the same village after conducting a drive on Friday night. 

Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Jhikargachcha Police Station said that the rapists stopped the housewife on a road in the village when she was going to a neighbour’s house around 10:30 pm on Thursday. They kidnapped the woman to a nearby grass field and raped her in turn, later left her on the train line in serious condition.

Police rescued the victim on Friday morning on getting information from the villagers. The victim was sent to Jashore General Hospital for physical test.  The arrestees were identified as Alam Hossain 25, Zakir Hossain 20, Hasanur Rahman 22 and Abdul Jalil 23 of Purandapur village in the upazila. 

A case was filed against eleven people with the Jhikorgacha police station in this connection. All the rapists are fishermen by profession. 

They confessed the rape incident to the police station.
