Chattogram divisional Directorate of National Consumers’ Right Protection conducted a drive on Thursday based on the complaint that unhealthy and unhygienic foods are being served to the students in the restaurants adjacent to Chittagong University (CU).
Four establishments were fined during the drive for keeping foods in unsanitary environment and supplying unsafe drinking water.
Deputy Director of Chattogram divisional Directorate of National Consumers’ Right Protection, Mohammad Foyez Ullha, conducted the drive at the eateries in front of the main gate of Chittagong University on Thursday noon. Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) Jubo (Youth) Group CU branch provided overall assistance during the drive.
A total of Tk 12,000 was fined to the four eateries at that time. Mour Dokan and Matlab Foods were fined Tk 2,000 each and Bellal Hotel and Aziz Hotel were fined Tk 4,000 each.
Deputy Director of Chattogram divisional Directorate of National Consumers’ Right Protection, Mohammad Foyez Ullha, said we have conducted a drive at the eateries adjacent to the university with the initiative of Directorate of National Consumers’ Right Protection and CAB CU branch. Four establishments were fined a total of Tk 12,000 for serving food in unhygienic conditions and supplying unsafe drinking water. They were warned about this.
Rana Deb Nath and Md Anisur Rahman, Assistant Directors of Chattogram divisional Directorate of National Consumers’ Right Protection, were present at that time. Besides them, CAB Jubo Group CU branch president Rabbi Touhid, general secretary Md Khairul Islam, publicity secretary Rojain Al Rafi, members Roman Rahman, Rafsan Alvi, Bayozid Hossain and Rafeza Ripa were present during the drive.
