Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained four Bangladeshis, including two human traffickers, while they were illegally entering Bangladesh from India through the Chandherhat border in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon on Wednesday.
The detainees are identified as Nishit, 35, son of Pben, resident of Rampur village under Bochaganj upazila in Dinajpur, Rintu Mohant, 40, son of Gopal Mohant, resident of Kashidanga village in Biral upazila, Obaidur Rahman, 55, son of Abdul Aziz, resident of Bhobanipur village in Pirganj upazila and Obaidur, 35, resident of Indreil village in Pirganj upazila.
They were detained at the 333/3 S pillar area near West Bhabanipur village along the border on Wednesday morning. They were illegally entering Bangladesh from India through the Madhya Gauripur BSF camp area. Later in the afternoon, they were handed over to Pirganj police station.
The in-charge of Chandherhat BGB camp, Nayek Subedar Mamunur Rashid, stated that they were detained at the border while illegally entering Bangladesh from India. Among them, Obaidur Rahman and Abaydul Rahman are human traffickers, while the other two are ordinary citizens. A case has been filed against them at the police station.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirganj police station Khairul Anam Don confirmed the matter.
