The interim government has reallocated responsibilities among its some members across various ministries and divisions. The Cabinet Division announced this in a notification issued on Tuesday.
According to the latest reshuffle, four advisers have been given additional responsibilities by reducing the duties of Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus.
The Chief Adviser, who initially held oversight of 27 ministries and divisions, will now manage six, including the Cabinet Division, the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces Division, the Ministry of Food, the Ministry of Public Administration, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
Under the new arrangements, Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed has been given charge of the Ministry of Science and Technology, in addition to his existing portfolios in the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Commerce.
Adviser AF Hassan Ariff has been assigned the Ministry of Land, alongside his existing portfolio in the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD), and Cooperatives.
Brigadier General (Retd) M Sakhawat Hossain will now also oversee the Ministry of Shipping, in addition to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.
Social Welfare Adviser Sharmin S Murshed has been given responsibility for the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, alongside her current portfolio.
The charges of other advisers of the interim government will remain unchanged.
Earlier on August 8, the interim government, led by Dr Muhammad Yunus, was formed as the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government fell with her resigning and fleeing to India amid student movement.
Initially, the cabinet included 17 members, with four additional advisers later appointed, bringing the total to 21.
A special assistant to the chief adviser has also been appointed.
