Bangabandhu's dream of "Shonar Bangla" is being well formulated under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam said this while addressing a function on the 75th Birth Anniversary of the PM at the Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed Park in Gulshan on Tuesday morning.
The DNCC mayor said the life of Sheikh Hasina, who was born on the very day in Gopalganj, was colorful yet full of struggle. Her life had been risked time and time again, yet at the risk of her life she remained steadfast in achieving her goals with infinite courage.
The mayor said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Mother of Humanity has been hailed as the "conscience of world humanity" because of providing shelter, food, clothing, education and medical treatment to more than 11 lakh Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.”
He said under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, economic growth, food self-reliance, women's empowerment, agriculture, education, health, rural infrastructure, communication, energy and power, trade, ICT and SME sectors have achieved tremendous success in all sections and has immensely benefited the people.
“Bangladesh today has evolved from a least developed country to a developing country under the competence, dedication, ingenuity, efficiency, creativity, liberal democratic outlook and visionary leadership of Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
He said that due to the tireless work of the PM, Bangladesh has been elevated to a special status in the world and the country has been established as a role model of development from the once so-called bottomless basket country. He added that similar to Sheikh Harina, everyone should work sincerely for the welfare of the people from their respective positions, with love for the country and its.
The DNCC mayor further said that unplanned Dhaka should be developed by all as a healthy, vibrant and modern city. Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Speaker of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad was present as the Chief Guest, Md. Tajul Islam, Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Md. Zahid Ahsan Russell, Minister of State for Youth and Sports and Md. Selim Reza, Chief Executive Officer of DNCC were the keynote speakers.
