Detectives during an overnight operation have detained five leaders and activists of Awami League and banned Bangladesh Chhatra League including former MP of Naogaon-6 constituency Omar Faruk Sumon from different parts of the capital.
The other arrestees are Abu Naim Juber, 22, former vice-president of Dhaka Metropolitan Noth unit Chhatra League, Tanvir Islam, 30, vice-president of Mirpur Model Police Station Chhatra League, Sazzad Hossain, 57, religious affairs secretary of Awami League and Amzad Hossain Rajon, 44, vice-president of Motijheel T&T Colony unit Jubo League.
Tipped off, a team of BD police conducted a drive in different parts of the capital and arrested them, said deputy commissioner (media) of DMP, Talebur Rahman on Thursday.
Among the arrestees, Naim was arrested from Malibagh area, Tanvir from Mirpur Model area, Sazzad from Uttara Kawla area, Rajon from Motijheel area and Omar Faruk from Lalbagh area of the capital.
