Bangladesh Election Commission Officers Association has sought formation of election commission service and assigning the responsibility of conducting national election to the Commission’s own officials.
“In line with the recommendation of the Electoral System Reform Commission, it is necessary to take prompt and effective steps to promulgate the ‘Election Commission Secretariat (Amendment) Ordinance-2025’ and take effective steps for forming the ‘Election Commission Service as well as assign the responsibility of EC’s own officials,’” said the association’s convener Mohammad Monir Hossain at a press conference at the EC media centre in Agargaon.
He placed a five-point set of recommendations on behalf of the Bangladesh Election Commission Officers Association.
Three other recommendations are taking steps for the approval of the proposed organogram, including creation of new posts upgradation and necessary logistics; repealing the National Identity Registration Act-2023 to keep the NID services under the EC’s authority and holding an ‘Election Officials Conference-2025’ with the participation of all EC officials on September 27 at the EC head office to ensure the upcoming 13th national election is held in a free, fair and impartial manner.
