The newly formed group 'Justice for July' has criticised Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus for not addressing their demands for justice in his recent speech. The organisation is calling for a dedicated commission to investigate the July massacre.
The group expressed dissatisfaction with Yunus' speech in a statement released on Thursday by member secretary Abdullah Al Amin and convener Arefin Mohammad.
They noted that while Yunus proposed reforms and initiatives, including a commission to review six key sectors, he failed to directly address the massacre or outline concrete steps for justice.
The leaders highlighted that Yunus' speech, which focused on administrative reforms and managing rising commodity prices, did not provide details on how the 'July Genocide Memorial Foundation' would operate or when proper care for the injured would begin. They emphasised the urgent need for action as many victims of the July uprising are still struggling without adequate treatment.
Justice for July also expressed concern about potential destruction of evidence related to the massacre. They are urging the formation of a commission to ensure a thorough investigation and trial, alongside the proposed reforms.
