The domestic football season 2024-25 have already got underway when three foreign conducted the debut match, as the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) yet to select the chairman of it’s referees’ committee.
Three Bhutanese referees, who came here to conduct two FIFA friendly matches between Bangladesh and Maldives, took place on November 13 and16, BFF managed them to conduct the first and one of the big matches of the season was held between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Bashundhara Kings.
However, the BFF, though have aleready nominated the chairman of 15 committees in their first meeting was held on November 09 but without selecting the chairman of the referees committee the season has already been started.
FIFA referee and the vice-chairman of the referee committee Tayeb Hassan Shamsuzzaman said that since stepping down (before the election of the BFF) of former chairman and the senior vice-president of the BFF Abdus Salam Murshedi, the post is still vacant.
According the frst meeting of the BFF, the chairman of every committee will form their own board. As there is no chairman of the referees committee, so there is no question about the activites of this committee.
Tayeb Hassan Shamsuzzaman, when talking to the Bangladesh Post on Friday, said, “It was an earlier decision of the BFF to conduct the first match of the season with foreign referee, so as three refrees from Bhutan were here, they conduted the match. Anyway, we requested the BFF to have our new chairman. BFF told us to continue the function and this committee will remain until the new chairman would be appointed. So we have no problem to continue our job.”
Meanwhile, the president of the Bashundhara Kings and the chairman of the league committee Imrul Hassan earlier proposed for foreign referees to conduct the first match of the season, as the BFF just managed the Bhutese referees for conducting the match.
The finalist of last season’s Federation Cup played the first match of this season started with the newly-introduced, Bangladesh Challenge Cup.
