Food items were distributed to the poor people of different professions in Meherpur on Wednesday.
An initiative was taken to distribute the food items to 1,000 people from the funds of the Minister of Public Administration. A total of 300 poor people got assistance in the first phase at Kabi Nazrul Shiksha Manzil ground in Meherpur town on the day. During that time, pulses, oil, salt, potatoes, fish and chicken were given to them.
Meherpur District Awami League Vice President Abdul Halim, Sadar Upazila Woman Vice Chairman Latifunnesa, Municipal Jubo Mahila League General Secretary Rutsabha Mandal, District Chhatra League President Abdus Salam Bandhan and Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League leaders and activists were present at the distribution ceremony.
The speakers said that many people have been affected professionally in the current situation due to the destruction in the name of the movement. The Minister of Public Administration stood beside these affected and helpless people. They urged people from all walks of life to stand by the government. These food items were given to the people of various professions with low-income, including day laborers and various shopkeepers.
