In response to the nationwide coronavirus crisis, the local Awami League and its affiliates, all-party able-bodied individuals and businessmen took the initiative to provide food aid to 2,000 poor and helpless families living in 6 villages in 8th ward of Bishnupur Union north of Chandpur Sadar.
As part of this initiative, Abdul Aziz Khan Badal, chairman of the governing body of Kherudia Delwar Hossain High School and College and joint general secretary of Chandpur Sadar Upazila Awami League, inaugurated the programme on Friday morning.
In the morning, relief packets were distributed to 1000 families among the unemployed and helpless people of 6 local villages in the first phase by maintaining social distance at Kherudia Delwar Hossain High School and College ground. The remaining 1,000 families will be provided with relief on Saturday and Sunday, sources said.
The local Awami League, UP chairman and its affiliates, local able-bodied individuals and businessmen took this special initiative to provide food aid to the helpless and poor families in Kherudia, Prajaparddi, Sarangdi, Sugandhi, Hasadi and parts of Lalpur villages.
Earlier, at 5 pm on April 7 at Kherudia Delwar Hossain High School and College ground under the leadership of Abdul Aziz Khan Badal, Chairman of the Governing Body and Joint-General Secretary of Chandpur Sadar Upazila Awami League, the decision was taken to provide aid to the helpless people of the union.
Following the Chandpur district administration's project 'Tran Jabe Bari', a relief store will be opened in the rooms of Delwar Hossain High School and College. If anyone wants calls for assistance through a hot line, the local social workers will deliver aid to their home.
Present at the time were the current chairman Shamim Hossain Khan, former chairman Mosharraf Hossain Montu Khan, Mohammad Naeem Khan, Mohammad Kajal Jamadar, Wasim Jamadar, Nur Hossain Sarkar, Mohammad Ali Bokaul while maintaining the social distance and health rules between the local leaders of Awami League and its affiliates. Bokaul, Md Arifur Rahman Sarkar and Azad Khan among others.
Local leaders also called for staying at home in the face of the Corona crisis while maintaining personal safety and social distance and adhering to health policies.
