Folk singer Farida Parveen tests Covid positive

Ekushey Padak and National Film Award-winning folk singer Farida Parveen has tested positive for coronavirus. 

The singer's son Imam Zafar Nomani confirmed the matter on Saturday night. He said that as she felt sick for four days, she was given sample for the coronavirus test on April 7. Though her test report came positive, she has no other physical problems except slight shortness of breath.

Imam Zafar Nomani added that she has been taking treatment at home following the recommendation of the physician. He shouted prayers to all for her mother's early recovery.  

Farida Parveen, popularly known as "the Queen of Lalon song", was born at village Shawl of Singra Upazila in Natore on December 31, 1954. In 1987, she received the Ekushey Padak for her special contribution to the music industry. In 2008, he received the Fukuoka Asian Culture Award from the Government of Japan. She also won the National Film Award for Best Playback Singer in 1993.
