Wicketkeeper-batsman Ben Foakes and opener Keaton Jennings have been recalled to the England squad for the two-match Test series versus Sri Lanka in March. Continuing his recovery from the rib injury he suffered in the Cape Town Test, James Anderson has been rested, reports Cricbuzz.

Foakes gave a good account of himself in the Test series versus Sri Lanka in 2018-19, where he accumulated close to 300 runs. However, he didn't do well in the Test series in the West Indies and also didn't have a good County season for Surrey. He and Jos Buttler are the two wicketkeepers in the set-up, with Jonny Bairstow being rested. Jennings also put up a good show in the Test series in Sri Lanka in 2018-19, which included a century in the opening game in Galle. Incidentally, both his centuries in Test cricket have come in Asia.

England Test squad: Joe Root (C), Dominic Bess, Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler, Zak Crawley, Sam Curran, Joe Denly, Ben Foakes, Keaton Jennings, Jack Leach, Matthew Parkinson, Ollie Pope, Dominic Sibley, Ben Stokes (VC), Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.
