Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Monday expressed “deep shock and sorrow” at the demise of former Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran.
In a condolence message, he termed Kamran as a “cherished leader and guardian of mass people of Sylhet”.
Dr Momen is also representing Sylhet-1 constituency at the parliament.
“The country has lost a noted politician in his demise while it created an irreparable loss in the politics of Sylhet,” he said in his message. Dr Momen prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
The former mayor was suffering from Covid19.
He died at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka in the early hours of Monday.
He was also a member of the Awami League central executive committee.
