Disaster Management and Relief Advisor Faruk-E-Azam reported that the recent floods in the country had caused damages amounting to tk 14,269 crores 68 lahks 33 thousand 522.
He provided this update during a press briefing held on Tuesday at the Ministry’s Secretariat meeting room.
According to the advisor, 11 districts have been heavily affected by the floods, forcing 4,556,111 people to seek refuge in temporary shelters.
He further detailed that 942,821 individuals were directly impacted by the disaster, with 74 fatalities and 68 injuries recorded.
The financial losses, estimated based on data from various ministries, amount to over Tk 14,269 crore.
Faruk-E-Azam also mentioned that the assessment is thorough, covering damages to all sectors and infrastructure caused by the flooding. He concluded by stating that efforts are underway to assist the affected population and rebuild the devastated areas.
