Flood situation in Netrakona improving

The flood situation in Netrakona district remain unchanged as there is no rain here on Wednesday and yesterday being started improved slightly. 

According to Netrakona District administration sources,  A total of five lakh 41 thousand 400 peoples of one lakh 95 thousands family of ten upazilas of the district have seriously affected by flood water causing suffering much, for want of food and shelters. The seriously flood affected Upazilas are Durgapur,  Kalmakanda, Barhatta, Mohangonj, Madan and Atpara,  Purbadhala and Kendua.

Officially,  however admitted that a total of 75 unions out of 86 unions in ten  Upazilas of the district have badly affected by flood in the district by this time.

The flooding in the district has surpassed all the past records in recent memories.

All the educational institutions in the flood affected ares of the distrct have decleared closed due to flood. 

A total of 342 flood shelters have been opened in the district  where 45380 male, 49799 women and 18988 children took shelters though inadequate needs Increase the number of flood shelters.

Standing crops more than 50000 hectores of lands have in undated by flood while  Fishes of thousands ponds and firms have flashed away by  on rush of flood water. 

Besides,  the rail communication from Mohangonj-Netrakona- Dhaka not only disrupted but also suspended till further order due to a railway bridge at near by Mohangonj railway station damaged by heavy current of flood water yet to resume though high officials of the rail department visited the damaged railway bridge assuring reconstruction within very short time.

Netrakona district administration sources said a total of 212.000 mts rice out of sanctionef 333.000mts rice, cash Tk 1300000 and 2650 packet of dry food out of sanctioned 4950 packet dry food have already been distributed amongthe flood affected people though it is reportedly insufficient needs huge allocation for flood victims this time for Netrakona. 

Besides, the government have further allocated 100 mts rice, tk.10 lakhs and 3000 packets of dry food for flood affected people in the district. A total of 88 out of 89 medical team have been working relenlessly in the flood affected areas of the district.  Heavy moonson rain and incessant onrush of water water from the upstream over the last few days in undated vast areas of Netrakona district affecting lakhs of peoples.

The Netrokona district administration have been help all those who have unfit for stay their homes in this flood sitiuation by bringing them to nearby flood shelters and providing them food assistance  tamporaryly though it is not suppicient against local demands.

Water level of all the river mainly swumeshyary have flowing above 35cm. of danger mark.

It may be noted here that Bangladesh Army along with Netrakona district administration have started relief operation in flood affected ares in the district from yesterday.

If there no rain for the next 3/4 days,  the flood situation may develope after starting receding flood water.
