The flood situation in Lakshmipur slightly improves as the water is receding slowly. The district administration said the same. However, the situation does not allow anyone to leave the shelter centers.
Water Development Board Executive Engineer said the flood situation improves slowly due to water pressure from upstream flow and sporadic rain.
He said the water of Meghna River is flowing under 2 millimeter of the danger level. The water from Noakhali, Feni, Kochua and Chandpur is coming down through Dakatia Bhulua River of Lakshmipur. The water comes to Meghna River through Wapda canal, Rahmatkhali canal and some other canals and falls to the Bay of Bengal through Rahmatkhali and Hajimara regulator.

Many solvent families in Lakshmipur lost their everything, including crops of the lands, fishes of the enclosures and cattle. Among them, Joynal Abedin, resident of Titarkandi Kochua area under Charshahi union of Sadar Upazila, lost everything. His family was dependent on the income from cropland, fish enclosure and cattle. There are many others like him in the remote areas of the district. It is situated at east-south end of the district Sadar and near to Noakhali Sadar.
Adequate relief items were not sent to the area as the communication system is very weak there. Many people are not brave enough to reach that inaccessible area. The matter has been informed to the administration from media. On the other hand, the number of snakebite patients, pneumonia and diarrhea patients is increasing due to long lasting flood.
