The marooned people are battling with the deluge fury as life and livelihoods have been damaged severely in the affected districts. The suffering of the people in the flood-hit areas is reaching its peak. They are facing acute crises of food and safe drinking water.
The government relief allocated in the flood-hit areas is quite insufficient to meet the needs of the affected people. Houses and vast tracts of cropland in low lying areas of the affected districts went under water.
The flood waters are also now destroying matured crops, seedbeds, fish ponds, cattle farm and poultry in those affected districts. Apart from these, due to the onrush of water from upstream and heavy showers in the country for the last six days, low-lying areas in those districts also went under water.
Road communications in different upazilas of the affected districts and the city snapped due to floods, with mounting suffering of inhabitants. With the rise of water level in the river, the river erosion has also taken serious turn at many points of the affected districts, creating serious panic among the affected people. Therefore, we all will have to come forward and stand by the flood affected people as the flood situation is worsening in the country.
